In May 2008, a Citizens Committee submitted a Home Rule Charter Review Report to the St. Tammany Parish Council. Members of the League of Women Voters^®, Tammany Together, and other involved citizens reviewed the Charter over a period of five months. The Bureau of Governmental Research, a nonpartisan research organization based in New Orleans, was asked to provide technical assistance regarding the planning proposal. The meetings were open to the public and some Council Members and the press attended several of the meetings.

Now that the report has been submitted, we have a starting point to engage in further discussions with the general public and elected officials. We invite you to review the proposals that we have made and to comment on them.

A Pros and Cons report is still being developed.
